Migration & emancipation 2,000 years ago
Even 2,000 years ago, people in Tulln were already dealing with topics such as logistics, mobility, migration, trade, religion, customs, water supply and hygiene - just like today. The newly designed Roman Museum uses comic animations, pewter dioramas and life-size figurines to show Roman civil and military history and takes visitors on a lively journey through time to historic Tulln, which was part of the province of Noricum at the time.

From the Roman cavalry camp to the Tulln of today
In terms of content, the arc of suspense ranges from the time when the Romans extended the borders of their empire to the Danube border, through the Marcomannic Wars and the Huns to Christianization and the work of Saint Severin, who preached in Comagenis before the Roman population moved to Italy at the end of the 5th century.

Documentation about the Frauenstift
In the entrance area of the museum, a documentation is dedicated to the history of the building. Founded in 1280, the so-called "imperial convent" is probably the most historically significant monument in the city. It was donated by Rudolf von Habsburg to commemorate his victory over King Ottokar. The documentation presents the origins, history, ownership and administration of the Tulln Dominican convent as well as the life of the nuns in a small but modern exhibition.
Save with the TULLN TICKET!
