Family outing to the AubadTulln
The municipality of Tulln an der Donau, with just under 16,500 inhabitants, offers several opportunities for family outings. Among them is the idyllic Aubad.
The Aubad Tulln is a true paradise for anyone who wants to spend a relaxing day by the water. Covering an area of around 50,000 m2, the bathing lake offers numerous sunbathing lawns, areas for children and many sports facilities.
The bathing lake is accessible via meadows and footbridges and offers refreshing water as well as a small idyllic island in the middle of the lake. Numerous trees on the shore provide plenty of shade, which is particularly welcome on hot days.
In the children's area there are two adventure slides (45 m water slide, 18 m wide water slide), an octopus in the water and a playground with a sandy beach. Here the little ones can splash and play to their heart's content while their parents relax or do some sport themselves.
For sports enthusiasts, there are four beach volleyball courts, a basketball court, a beach handball court and plenty of paths for walking or jogging. There are even fitness stations and the opportunity to hire boats or stand-up paddleboards. For barbecue fans, there are barbecue areas that are perfect for a cozy picnic in the great outdoors.
Practical information and tips
The Aubad Tulln is a very popular place and can get very crowded during the day. It is therefore advisable to arrive early and secure a spot. The water temperature rises during the day, so a refreshing swim in the morning is particularly recommended.
The price for a day ticket is € 7.60 and there are plenty of parking spaces and sanitary facilities on site. The Aubad Tulln is open from May to August, making it an ideal way to enjoy the summer to the full.
Boat trips at Tulln Water Park
The Tulln Water Park in Lower Austria is an ideal excursion destination for anyone who enjoys being out on the water and exploring nature. Visitors can explore the network of waterways by boat on a 5 km water circuit and admire the rich flora and fauna along the shore.

Picnic area and boat hire
For a break in between, there is an idyllic picnic area where you can make yourself comfortable and eat something. The boat rental has different opening times depending on the season. Canoes (max. 4 people) cost 14 euros per hour and pedal boats (max. 5 people) 16 euros per hour. Either an ID card or a deposit of 30 euros is required to hire the boats.

Children's adventure cycle path Tulln
You can also explore Tulln by land, for example by bike. Get pedaling and set off on the 13 km long children's adventure tour through the garden city of Tulln. The Danube flowing by on one side, exciting experiences on the other. On the way along the Donaulände or through the water park, you will pass the GARTEN TULLN - with its treetop path and the largest natural playground in Lower Austria.
Follow in the footsteps of the Romans, e.g. in the Tulln City Museum with the Roman Museum and the innovative Virtulleum. Or literally dive into the cool waters of the natural bathing lake at the Aubad Tulln.
The cycle tour can also be extended by a short detour of approx. 4 km, where the whole family can discover the world of little Egon Schiele, who was born at Tulln main station in 1890. If you cycle to the neighboring village of Langenlebarn, you can playfully explore the"Donau.Spuren.Langenlebarn" nature adventure trail around the idyllic village pond.

Roman Museum in Marc Aurel Park
The town of Tulln can look back on an eventful history - and is worth a visit even in bad weather. More than 2,000 years ago, today's district capital served as an equestrian fort, known as "Comagenis", to secure part of the Noric Limes along the Danube.
The award-winning Roman Museum in Marc-Aurel-Park with its exciting artifacts - including authentic swords, armor and everyday objects - brings the time of Roman Tulln from the late 1st century AD to 488 AD back to life and shows how people lived back then.

You can immerse yourself in the era with the help of the free Virtulleum app or with the puzzle game "The Tomb Raider's Legacy". Explore the remains of the Roman equestrian camp Comagenis and uncover an exciting secret together with your family.

Donau-Auen National Park
The rippling of the Danube can be heard softly. Suddenly, a dazzling kingfisher flits across the surface of the water as fast as an arrow. The beaver on the bank doesn't seem to be bothered by this and goes about its work unhindered. Meanwhile, in the background, a magnificent white-tailed eagle takes to the skies.
Nature lovers get their money's worth in the Donau-Auen National Park. After all, it is one of the largest remaining floodplain landscapes in Central Europe.
The 9,600-hectare nature reserve stretches from Vienna to the mouth of the Morava River on the border with Slovakia and offers a real nature experience that can be explored either on a guided excursion or on your own. Membership of the Emy Children's Club is also free, which promises young members regular news as well as competition opportunities and a welcome gift.
Hochkar ski resort
Fancy some winter sports? The Hochkar is known as the most snow-sure alpine center in eastern Austria. Glistening white powder snow awaits you at 1,300 to 1,800 m above Göstling an der Ybbs. The "winter wonderland" has become a popular destination for snow fans of all kinds thanks to its diverse pistes. And that's not just because of the views amidst the snow-covered mountains.
Whether beginner or expert, there is something for everyone here: 5.5 km of blue pistes, 10 km of red pistes and 3.5 km of black pistes offer plenty of variety!

There are also family-friendly routes such as the carving and mogul slopes as well as Thomas Sykora's downhill run. And the Kinderland, specially developed for the little ones, is ideal for their very first skiing experiences.

EIBL Jet" all-weather toboggan run
If you want to go tobogganing, you don't have to wait for the cold winter: get ready for a speedy ride at a height of 7 meters! The "EIBL Jet" toboggan run near Türnitz offers 11 bends, lots of jumps, waves and even a circle all year round.
Hold on tight as green forests and meadows rush past you as you whizz down the hill at speeds of up to 40 km/h. But don't worry, the more than 1,000-metre-long descent with a height difference of 110 meters provides just the right amount of thrills for young and old.
Hubhof Family Park in Aggsbach Markt
From Easter to the end of October, the Hubhof Family Park offers a large adventure playground with 4 different worlds that couldn't be more different.
Don't be frightened. More than 20 life-size prehistoric creatures give you an idea of what it might have been like on earth millions of years ago.

The walk through the fairytale forest is a little more peaceful. You will meet the Frog King, accompany Little Red Riding Hood on her way to the witch's house and witness Mrs. Holle shaking her pillows. Will Cinderella's shoe really fit? Together with your family, experience 16 famous scenes from the Brothers Grimm tales, portrayed by moving figures.
The Indian Land attracts visitors with a wealth of exciting activities that catapult you straight into the Wild West, including lasso throwing, horseshoe throwing and climbing rocks, and those who are particularly brave can take a look at the giant snake. The youngest members of the family can also look forward to the amusement park with children's Ferris wheel, children's train and bouncy castle.

Adventureland Pielachtal
Want to feel like the famous screen explorer Indiana Jones? It's possible in Pielachtal! An exciting treasure hunt awaits the whole family in Adventure Land. Embark on a journey of discovery for more than 80 different gemstones and sparkling gold nuggets, just like the heroes of the past.
But those who "work" can also relax afterwards: After you have "survived" the adventure at the emerald lake, the gold panning stream and the amber grotto, you can unwind to your heart's content on specially created sand, green and reed beaches.
Eisenwurzen Nature Park
With its wooded gorges, waterfalls, alpine meadows and forest moors, the Eisenwurzen Nature Park near Hollenstein an der Ybbs is ideal for relaxing and exciting family excursions.
